| Toshiba Carrier systems breathe fresh air into £62 million 'village concept' thanks to AMP Ltd and Adcock Refrigeration |

Climate control specialists Adcock Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Limited and AMP have worked together to add a special comfort factor to leisure facilities and essential services outlets at the £62 million Denham Garden Village development in Buckinghamshire. The Denham Garden Village scheme is believed to be Britain's first residential village designed exclusively for 'the over-fifty-fives'. Air conditioning from Toshiba, Carrier and Carrier Holland Heating, has been considered essential for all of the central services areas, which are a key aspect of the Garden Village development concept.

| Toshiba distributor AMP supplied Toshiba Air Conditioning's advanced VRF systems, which Adcock installed in key areas of the development to ensure indoor ambient temperatures all-year-round for residents of this innovative project. Denham Garden Village is providing more than 300 homes in a 'village' environment under a concept devised by owner, Anchor Trust. Anchor believes this prototype scheme could lead to a surge of interest in shared-lifestyle accommodation, popular in the US.

| The 'village' is provided with an air-conditioned environment from two 'mirror-image' plant rooms above the two service wings, separated by an attractive indoor 'winter garden'. Working with mechanical and electrical specialists from Briggs and Forrester under main contractor Willmott Dixon, Adcock installed AMP's Toshiba SMMS R410A VRF heat pump systems to provide air conditioning for the restaurant, café-bar, post office, village shop, library, doctors' surgery, facilities office and even the on-site hairdressing salon. |
| The Toshiba technology is so quiet that no sound is detectable in the contemplative Memorial Gardens, which are located just three metres from one of the plant rooms. |
| Adcock also installed Carrier Holland Heating R410A air handling units served by two Carrier condensing units to channel tempered air into those areas that need larger numbers of air changes such as the 'Winter Garden', 'Village Hall' and the fitness centre area with two training suites and a swimming pool. |
| The Toshiba system interfaces with a Trend BMS system to provide site managers with control and system visibility. The new Toshiba centralised controller is considered a particularly attractive feature by the on-site facilities management. It simplifies the control with all the Toshiba systems being managed from a single location and is clear and easy to understand. |
| Adcock manager Lee Carter said that, "Forthcoming developments in Open Protocol controls technology from Toshiba and Carrier would enable this sort of control to take place via the web in future." Homeowners would be able to monitor energy bills through this system. |
| Anchor Trust originally bought the 62-acre site from the Licensed Victuallers Association in 2001. Eighty of the new apartments have been reserved for former LVA members, but the scheme has a far wider appeal to over-fifty-fives in general. Residents have access to many green open spaces throughout the scheme in the form of a village square, green and common, as well as thirty acres of private woodland. There are also communal seating areas and a number of properties have private gardens.
