Carrier Launches Aquaforce Large Chiller Range

Leatherhead, U.K., October 31st, 2006 - Carrier has announced the launch of its latest chiller range, the 30XA Aquaforce™, in the U.K. The large air-cooled chillers with screw compressors are available in 20 sizes with capacities from 270 kW to 1.7 MW. In tests, Aquaforce™ achieved part load seasonal energy efficiencies (ESEER) of 4.5. It uses non-ozone depleting refrigerant HFC 134a and new micro-channel heat exchange coil technology. The 30XA is part of a worldwide program of new product developments and has already enjoyed considerable success following its 2005 release in the U.S.

Micro-channel coil technology has been widely used in the automotive industry for some years, but this is the first time it has been applied in large chillers. It has been shown to increase heat transfer efficiency. The all-aluminum, brazed construction coils provide enhanced reliability through improved corrosion resistance. Condenser coils with micro-channels also require up to 30 percent less refrigerant, further improving the environmental qualifications of this technology.
The latest Carrier patented Flying Bird IV™ technology fans also are incorporated to meet new standards in sound emission. Pro-Dialog™ controls with a touch screen interface and field serviceable compressors are additional innovations.
Carrier U.K. commercial director Richard Ward commented, “This chiller is a logical response to market demand. Its energy efficiency characteristics and higher capacities will be very welcome in the U.K. market. We have already seen exceptional interest and expect high levels of early orders.”
